Christos Frangonikolopoulos is Professor of International Relations at the Department of Journalism and Media at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in Journalism of European Integration. He studied Politics and Governance and received his PhD in International Relations from the University of Kent in Canterbury (United Kingdom). He is the author of the books EU: The Inevitable Challenge of Democratic Legitimization (Epikentro 2017), The Global Role of Non-Governmental Organizations (Sideris, 2007), The Democratization of Global Governance: An Introduction to Cosmopolitan Democracy (with F. Proedrou, Sideris 2010), The ‘National Issues’ in the Media Vortex (with G. Pleios, Sideris 2011), International Conflicts: Coping and Resolution (with A. Irakleides and G. Kostakos, I. Sideris 2004). Editor/co-editor of the books Media, Society and Politics (I. Sideris, 2005), The Present and Future of Greek Foreign Policy (I. Sideris 1995).
He has published more than 40 chapters in collected volumes and articles in journals such as Global Society, The Round Table, Nordicom, Etudes Helleniques, Greek Review of Political Science, Greek Review of Communication, Journal of Contemporary European Studies, Journal of Media and Cultural Politics, Place Branding and Public Diplomacy, Global Media Journal, Diplomacy and Statecraft, Global Discourse, Bridges, Journal of International Electronic Governance, New Perspectives on European Society and Politics, Media Dialogues, Journalism and Journal of Greek Culture and Communication. He is also co-editor of the book Transnational Celebrity Activism: Changing the World? (Intellect, University of Chicago Press 2011).
